Long before the tallest man-made structure was built, when there were no Friday brunches yet to enjoy. Dubai Creek was one of the bustling place in Dubai for business. It played an important part of the city’s commercial success. The creek has two sides, Deira and Bur Dubai. This is where you can cross the other side through abra (Arabic term for a tradition wooden boat) – my favourite part!
These photos were taken four months ago when the weather was nicer. I got the opportunity to play around with my new camera. It was a lovely day. So I had to snap random photos around the area and turns out to be… actually not bad at all.
We took the Green line metro station to Al Ghubaiba. Below photo is the elevator from the outside. Pretty cool right?
As we were strolling along towards the creek I can’t help but take a stolen shot of this guy. He seems chilled out.
We were starving so we picked the first restaurant we spotted. It’s called Blue Barjeel restaurant. They serve Arabic food which is what we were craving for! We got our seat outside and it was really lovely. We can see the river and the birds picking their food just beneath us. Maybe that is why I love this part of Dubai. It’s too genuinely simple not to mention food is cheap!
We paid like only 70 dirhams for our meal. Baba Ganoush, hummus, arabic bread and mixed grill platter. All tasted very nice! Then right after our food we cross the creek and paid a dirham for the abra. Another perfect opportunity to snap snap and snap.
I love these sandals which I got from Carrefour. They’re very comfy! So I have to sneak it in with my photo. 🙂
Then we stroll around Spice souq… some tourists may find vendors very annoying like I do. Just a tip, try to just ignore them.
I think this is my favourite photo of this post. Relationship goals: to grow old with someone and travel with your couple friends! That will be a dream.
So that’s my Dubai Creek episode for today. It’s a shame that we won’t be able to go back soon because the weather is just unbearable. Hopefully by September or October it will be cooler. Hope you enjoy this post. Have you been to the creek? x
