We were invited last week to try Itzza Pizza at their flagship branch in Jumeirah. I was very excited for this occasion as I’m a huge fan of Italian food. We had already tried Itzza Pizza at Mirdif and Ricky always raved about how good their pizza and pasta were.
The restaurant is very rustic. The details of the interiors and ambiance gives a homely feeling. My first impression was it looked like what I would expect in an Italian restaurant in New York. With the style of the venue you can tell that it isn’t a fast food pizza joint.
We were greeted by the wonderful Ms. Katrina who introduced us to the story of Itzaa Pizza which is a local start-up. There are now branches all over Dubai and even in the other emirates. Eventually our friends arrived and it was time to order.
We started off by ordering drinks. I chose the Daddy Cooler. It comes with fresh orange, pineapple, lemon and cranberry. It was very refreshing and reminded me of the cocktails I had in Boracay. Katrina sat with us throughout our meal. She was very helpful in assisting us in making our decision on what to order.
For starters we ordered the Itzza Triple Starter Set (AED 39 each). The two sets comes with Barbecue wings, , Calamari, Risotto balls, Buffalo wings, Bruschetta, and Potato wedges.
These were all very nice. The Ricotta balls and Barbecue wings had a unique Filipino style – sweet taste. Ricky preferred the Sour Buffalo wings. Our blogger friend Kenneth requested the Caprese salad which is fresh mozarella and tomatoes.
Itzza Pizza has their own twist on this dish where they used fresh cherry tomatoes and small mozarella balls. Unlike the traditional way which is the tomato sliced, topped with buffalo mozarella. This was very nice and refreshing. It had cleanse my palette for the main course.
Next stop we ordered some pasta dishes. I especially loved the creamy topped of Lasagna it really complimented the taste. The seafood dish was very fresh tasting with the spicy tomato sauce flavour. The Carbonara was very creamy and indulgent.
Next up was the moment I have been looking forward to is Itzza pizza pizzas. We couldn’t resist going for the meter long special and we decided to go for Diavola, Buffalo Margherita and BBQ Chicken.
I suggested the Diavola because I like everything that is spicy! It was indeed viciously spicy with delicious salami on top. Of course plain is never boring – the Buffalo Margherita had a lovely taste of fresh tomato sauce and buffalo cheese. The smokey flavour of the crust gives you a wholesome aroma. The BBQ Chicken was loaded with vegetables and Itzza pizza’s signature sweet bbq sauce. Even though we have eaten so much already we managed to eat a lot of the pizza and everyone loved it. It really was a feast!
I was amazed to find out that they even do delivery with this huge pizza. We all took turns to take selfies and hopefully one of us will win the Italy competition.
At this point we were all very full and very happy. The funny and interesting conversation makes the experience so much unforgettable. We were like real Italians – knows how to really enjoy the food and the company.
Katrina insisted to try two of their signature desserts. First one was the Lemon cheese cake. It had a lovely balance of sour and sweet. It was light and sweet exactly what you need after a big Italian meal. The Chocolate Calzone mixed with banana was also very nice. Although it was a real struggle for me because I was really full at this point.
Overall I had an amazing experience at Itzza Pizza and would recommend everyone in Dubai to give it a try. They even deliver for most parts. The staff were very nice and the served meal really got me excited for my trip to Italy this October (for a holiday)!
