Breakfast Hunt in Downtown Dubai

The Bench Breakfast Buffet

Picture any Friday in Dubai and you will find Myla and Ricky sitting in a restaurant sampling yet another breakfast nook.

The Friday breakfast has become our tradition so what a wonderful surprise when I was invited by my blogger friends to go on a breakfast hunt. A one day breakfast trek around Downtown Dubai.

This was the only thing that could get me up on a 630 on a Friday morning! Having forced ourselves out of bed we arrived with a big smile greeting our friends (Lady, Doc Gelo, Kriska and Joy) at La Serre restaurant which is our first stop.

This was somewhere we were looking at for a long time so I was delighted to visit here. Unsurprisingly all of us started with a coffee. Mine was a coffee latte which was just perfect to kickstart the day.

The Eggs Benedict we ordered was beautifully presented with a scrumptious creamy hollandaise sauce on top. The eggs were cooked just as we asked. I also have the chance to try the french toast which was amazing too! No wonder La Serre won prestigious awards as one of the best restaurant in Dubai.

As bloggers always agree “sharing is caring” so I got to try their dishes too. The french toast was decadent with a wonderfully soft and sweet paired perfectly with the fresh cream and jam. The croissant was hands down the best I’ve ever tasted! It was so flaky and buttery you could tell it had been made by a French chef!

The ambiance in the downstairs area was perfect way to kickstart a day. With the beautifully laid out pastries and the whole restaurant lit up by the glass walls. You really feel you’re in a foodie paradise.

For our next stop we headed to Fume. Ricky and I had been here before for lunch but we were very interested to try their breakfast. Together we ordered breakfast pan and an omelette. These were beautiful with the omelette garnished with fresh rockets perfectly cooked and the breakfast pan giving you that classic english breakfast taste. I love the giant mushrooms but what was most magical about our visit was the monster shakes! These crazy concoctions included a strawberry milkshake with an upside down cone and a chocolate flavoured one with a whole brownie on top. They tasted lovely but to be honest you need to check my photo below to understand.

As with La Serre, the staff at Fume were extremely welcoming and attentive but not over bearing exactly what you need on a Friday morning. To end they gave us Rainbow bagels with nutella fillings for someone with a sweet tooth this is a dream star to your day – plus they’re very photogenic.

To digest our food we decided to wander around Downtown area. Of course we took our classic blogger pose!

We took a taxi to Rove Hotel. This is a really cool budget hotel concept and I hope to review my experience here at some point. But for today we only have one mission – breakfast!

Every Friday, the hotel do a The Bench brunch which used to be located in Pavilion Dubai.

For this we started with the buffet selection. They had all sorts of dishes here. I particularly like the fresh healthy juices , cheese board, fresh smoked salmon. Oh they have Sriracha sauce to which is a bonus point. As per the brunch we ordered one main dish each. I ordered the Burger which was perfectly cooked succulent beef and Ricky had Shakshuka which is an arabic breakfast dish with eggs and tomato.

So if you like a classy French style experience I would recommend La Serre restaurant with a tasty twist on classic breakfast dishes and an amazing selection of freshly baked breakfast treats. Plus croissants to die for! For those who fancy a classic English breakfast or to take some Instagram worthy pictures and to see the craziest drink I’ve seen in Dubai I would recommend Fume. For a good value deal especially for families I would recommend the Rove Bench plus a chance to see one of the coolest new hotel concepts of Dubai. All three provide great value for money and were certainly within our normal breakfast budget of max 100 per head.

So guys happy breakfast hunting! Let me know what your favourite breakfast nook in Dubai!
