The Battle of the Best Biryani
No matter where we come from or our cultural background all of us living in Dubai would have heard of and most likely tasted this dish.
On Friday, first of May I was invited to an occasion to celebrate the wonderful varieties and flavour of this Dubai staple. A Biryani competition hosted by Mumtaz Mahal at the Arabian Courtyard, Bur Dubai.
Upon arrival our noses lead us to the kitchen were ten very talented ladies were nervously preparing their own versions of Biryani.
I had fun taking photos with the contestants who look very passionate on their craft. The plates were being carried through the judges table and it was almost time for the proceedings to begin. We took the opportunity to take some pictures of all the entrance food which look wonderful.
The chefs families and friends were all there too waiting nervously as the judges sampled and studied their Biryanis.
It was a tough decision for the judges. The recipes were judged based on hygiene, cooking style and method, ingredients, taste and presentation.
One of the famous blogger in Dubai, Ishita of Ishitaunblogged was present too. I was so glad to finally meet her. She’s one of the judges which is so cool.
After the contest was announced we were treated to a wonderful Indian style buffet which included all of the contestants Biryanis at Bastakiya restaurant. Each one has an amazing unique taste and it must be a hard job for the judges!
Naina Shakeb is the winner for her entry of Batair Biryani. Congratulations!
